L’ombra dell’obelisco – The shadow of the obelisk

We are located in Piazza del Popolo,  precisely in Eastern semicircle.
The fountain at the center of the photo is dedicated to the goddess Roma, and is situated at the foot of the Pincio.

The enormous statue standing is the goddess Rome itself, while the two sittings statues represent the two rivers of Rome: the Tiber and the Aniene.

At the foot of the Goddess is the she-wolf suckling the twins Romulus and Remus: the legendary founders of the city.

The shadow that stretches out towards the fountain is the Obelisk Flaminio, placed at the centre of the square.
